downloadWe all stomached a fight between Danny Garcia and Rod Salka last year barely. We did the same when Lamont Peterson took on Edgar Santana on the same card. Why you ask? Because we were told it was setting up a Danny Garcia-Lamont Peterson unification, not that the fight needed any building up to anyway.

So no we’re in 2015 and not many of Haymon Boxers have dates lined up for the 1st quarter minus a Showtime bout this month that includes Deontay Wilder taking on Bermane Stiverne with Leo Santa Cruz on the undercard. While Garcia’s camp has said a Peterson fight does nothing for them and Peterson’s camp has felt on multiple occasions that Garcia was moving up in weight, Golden Boy’s Oscar De La Hoya is still aiming for the unification bout.

“I will push for Garcia vs. Peterson for the first quarter of the year,” De La Hoya told Ringtv.com. “It’s the next fight that I want to make.”

While the relationship with De La Hoya, Haymon, and Showtime is still unclear, De La Hoya has made it clear on social media and in interviews that he wants to make the best fights in 2015. Coming out the gates with Stiverne-Wilder and Garcia-Peterson would certainly go along with that sentiment.
