It was a pro-Puerto Rican crowd witnessing another chapter in the rivalry between Mexico and Puerto Rico when Emanuel Navarrete and Christopher “Pitufo” Diaz squared off for Navarrete’s 126 lb title.

The opening round was close, but both fighters began to step it up in the following two rounds. Navarrete was awkward as usual which proved to be more than what Diaz expected when he knocked Diaz down with a left uppercut.

Diaz targeted the body in the middle rounds which helped slow Navarrete down a bit but it wasn’t enough to keep “El Vaquero” off him. Diaz lost a point in the seventh from punching Navarrete in the kidneys during a clinch which just added insult to injury as Diaz was well behind on the cards and he got dropped yet again.

The two would go to war in the championship rounds but in the twelfth Diaz got dropped two more times and his corner stepped up onto the apron to stop the fight.

Navarrete sucked the wind out of the Puerto Rican crowd throughout the fight but by the end of the fight, everyone in the area was cheering for war.
