Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya co-promoted Last Saturday’s night of fights bringing us Frankie Gomez vs. Lanard Lane at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. It was joyful to see two promotional companies Golden Boy and Mayweather Promotions working together, bring the fight fans hope that two men that had bad blood in the past can set their differences aside to bring a night of fights to please the boxing fans.

The  fight card displayed a lineup of young upcoming new talent and a sold out house that had some standing the entire night just to be part of the event, “It was great tonight we had a great turn out, the fans were truly unbelievable I’m happy with the turn out,” said Mayweather Jr.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. put on his promotional hat and worked the crowd and cameras like a true host. This card was mostly Mayweather Promotions fighters showing off what the fairly new company could produce given the opportunity. Fighters like Mickey Bey exploded back on the scene with a sensational performance. As well as a now 2-0 fighter, Luis Arias who proved he had good skill and a style that any fan can admire.

Watching Floyd Mayweather Jr. step up to the role of promoter, and handle it so well gave me the sense that there could be hope that one day boxing would see the day where the best fights could be made and placed on display regardless of who those said fighters are promoted by. “Only thing I want to do is keep the sport alive, boxing is here to stay, working with Oscar De La Hoya and Richard Schaefer. Working with Golden Boy of course, we have Mayweather Promotions, we have a great chemistry and we are going to continue to work together in the future,” expressed Mayweather Jr.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. showed great maturity this past weekend not allowing himself to be given to much credit for the turn of events that took place by giving thanks to his business partners over at Golden Boy, but also someone else that’s always been there. “I have to take my hat off to Leonard Ellerbe he has done a tremendous job with our company. We taking our time day by day, we’re picking the right fighters and we’re making the right moves,” added Mayweather Jr.
