November 7, 2012 – Mexico City.

From the office of WBC President Dr. José Sulaimán:

The WBC invites the boxing community of the world to participate and join efforts in support of the so many people suffering in the northeast region of the United States after the passing of the devastating Hurricane Sandy .

The WBC has initiated the “Sandy Relief Fund “ with a donation of $5,000 dollars, and will start different dynamics to raise funds all over the world .

“Boxing has always stepped up to the plate in times of crisis. Boxing has always presented events to show the world that people who suffer work hard and get up to overcome any crisis,” Jose Sulaiman said.

After the horrible events of 9/11, New York hosted Trinidad vs Hopkins.  After Hurricane Wilma and after the H1N1 crisis, Cancun hosted great boxing events and so did Japan after the tragic tsunami.

The WBC fully supports the great boxing event which will be presented in Atlantic City on November 17 when Antonio DeMarco battles Adrien Broner for the WBC lightweight world championship.

We invite you to listen to your heart and reach out and help those in need in any way possible. There are many ways to provide aid, and it is now when you can make a difference.
