Well, mostly all the parties involved with the Mayweather-Pacquiao negotiations have talked to the press, nothing has really come from the HBO side.

David Mayo of MLive.com wrote a story stating that HBO may not want to make the fight until 2016 because then Mayweather could be a free agent and, therefore, would not have to deal with negotiating with Showtime.

Instead, they would sign Mayweather and stage the fight with Pacquiao on HBO Pay-Per-View.

On Monday, HBO released a statement refuting those rumors.

“We are not an impediment to this fight,” read the statement in regards to the Mayweather-Pacquiao. “We stand ready to go. The principals need to agree to terms and come to a deal.”

Although it was brief, that was the first statement released by HBO in regards to the fight. Just last week many people felt the fight was close. Many also thought what was delaying the fight announcement was the negotiations between the networks.

However by the statement released, it could mean once again, that it all falls on the fighter, and there are more issues that need to be resolved. So while most people this fight was at the goal line, this news may not suggest as much. Stay tuned.
