Jermall CharloJermall Charlo (22-0-17 KO’s) coming off the biggest fight of his career, a knockout win against Cornelius “K9” Bundrage for the IBF Junior Middleweight champion of the world. He is now the target of plenty contenders in a stacked middleweight and junior middleweight division. Thaboxingvoice’s own Mario Mungia caught up with the newly crowned champ to discuss his plans for his future in the ring.

In a boxing climate where fans are always looking for the next fight, Charlo is only as good as his next fight. So we asked what is on the horizon for the champion especially when it seems like a few fighters are calling him out, i.e., Demetrius Andrade and Julian “J-Rock” Williams.

“I have the title everyone is looking for the title” says Charlo, “I was once those guys looking for a title, but Demetrius don’t have anything, but yeah that’ll be a good fight, I think a Julian Williams or Austin Trout would be good fights, I feel like I’m very slept on in the division but I got the title so they would find out soon”.

Charlie, who made quick work of K9 Bundrage in September, is rumored to have another fight coming up before the year’s end; we asked Jermall to reveal if there is any truth to these rumors. “Yea sure I told my manager Al Haymon to get me another fight before the year’s over, I’m still waiting for the opponent, but I’m ready to take another big fight,” says the champ Charlo. He continued “I’m trying to defend my title soon I’m not running from nobody, I’m a Lion I’m here to stay I’m in 12 round shape right now whoever they want me to fight Ima fight em” he reiterates “I’m not dodging anybody!”

So look out for Charlo in the near future defending his title for the first time, whether it’s a credible or competitive opponent or not is yet to be seen. Demetrius Andrade (22-0, 15 KOs) stopped Argentinian Dario Fabian Pucheta (20-3) at the 50-second mark of the second round Saturday night October 17th at Mohegan Sun Arena to capture the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) International Junior Middleweight Title in the main event. Julian Williams is currently free as well as Austin Trout it seems like stars are aligning for one of these big matchups to happen soon.
