Judah Says Conditioning Won’t be an Issue in his 2015 Return to the Ring

zab-judah-4_3We have not seen Zab Judah in action since his unanimous decision loss to Paulie Malignaggi back in December of 2013. Judah had created some decent momentum in 2012 after defeating Vernon Paris. That led to a fight with junior welterweight kingpin Danny Garcia, and although Judah lost the fight, he had a solid showing and was much more competitive than what was expected of him.

Now, it seems as though Judah is ready to get back into the ring and he claims that he will fight at some point this year, although no announcement has been made, and the general rumblings haven’t gone past hearsay. There were some rumors that Judah was ready to announce a fight late last year and then again earlier this year, but it never came to fruition. Reports surfaced that the plans fell through after the proposed opponent declined, but nothing has ever been confirmed.

Judah admits that he lost focus and that finding the commitment to serious training was a problem, but he claims that is no longer the issue, and he is ready to make a genuine recommitment to the sport. That means being dedicated to his conditioning and training at the necessary level needed to compete.

In an interview with Thaboxingvoice.com, Judah confirmed to Sean Zittel that he is going to fight sometime this year when asked about his plans.

“Yeah, 2015–I will be back. Like I said, I’ve got a new found love for boxing again. In the past, conditioning has been my problem. It won’t happen again. I’m back,” Judah told Thaboxingvoice.com’s Sean Zittel.

There are some really great options for Judah, and he can surely fit into the welterweight or junior welterweight picture if he can return to form. He doesn’t have to be the world-class fighter he once was, so long as he can stay committed. A diminished version of what Judah once was is still a very capable fighter, but a Judah with a diminished outlook on the sport will not be tolerated in the deep pool of both weight classes.
