On May 27th, Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford (11-0, 7 KO’s) will fight for a third time this year when he defends his UBO light heavyweight title against Robert Berridge (29-6-1, 21 KO’s).

Ford recently fought on March 10th, when he took on Canadian cruiserweight champion Rob Nichols in a six-round non-title match in Edmonton. Ford moved up from light heavyweight to cruiserweight and easily picked apart Nichols for a stoppage victory in a fight that was taken at short notice for both fighters.

Berridge will come into the fight as the number one ranked light heavyweight out of New Zealand and will be the most experienced opponent that Ford has faced so far in his young professional boxing career. He has won the New Zealand light heavyweight title in 2013 along with WBC Asia, WBO Oriental, PABA and IBO Oceania titles.

Should all go well for Ford and no injuries occur in that bout, he may return to action just a couple weeks later for KO Boxing’s next card in Edmonton on June 17th.

In December of 2015, Adam Braidwood made his return to professional boxing to upset hometown favorite, Paul Mackenzie. Since that victory, Braidwood has gone on to avenge his only career defeat and win five fights in a row with his last victory taking place in February of this year and winning the WBU heavyweight championship.

With his latest victory, Braidwood is currently ranked as the number four heavyweight in Canada and he already has his sights set on his next victim, current Canadian heavyweight champion Dillon Carman.

Braidwood went online this morning and posted a meme directed at Carman stating that Carman is not the heavyweight champion. Braidwood captioned the picture with three simple words: “Fight me, dude.”

Carman won the Canadian heavyweight title in September of 2015. He has since gone on to fight on three separate occasions with none of those fights being a title defense and from the looks of it, Braidwood may have to wait longer because Carman is scheduled to join Big Brother Canada this Wednesday.

There is a solution to that though according to Braidwood. “Maybe I’ll have to kick down that front door and beat all those nerds up,” Braidwood jokingly said via social media.
