In the upcoming months Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Marcos Maidana will face off in the ring for a second time but the first time almost didn’t happen. Mayweather had concerns with Maidana’s gloves and threatened to call the whole fight off if Maidana didn’t use gloves of Floyd’s liking. Coming into the second fight fans, media and Maidana want to know if that will be an issue again but Leonard Ellerbe suggests that fans should not worry because gloves do not determine a winner or a loser.
“I don’t think gloves are an issue on [determining] who is the winner and who is the loser in a fight,” said Ellerbe. “I’m not getting ready to sit here and talk about what we are doing and all that stuff. We have a contract to fight [and] Maidana is coming into the fight with a tremendous amount of confidence. He had a lot of success in the first fight and I expect him to fully come and bring it this time. I don’t really want to go into the glove part because the glove part has nothing to do with what we are going to do now. Everyone knows what happened. There is no need to go back down that road and re-hash something from a couple months ago that really isn’t going to play a factor in this fight.”
