Floyd Mayweather - Keith ThurmanFloyd Mayweather looked mighty impressive on Saturday in a one-sided rout of Andre Berto.

If this was truly his last act in the ring, he went out with another sensational display, securing another easy victory and finishing his career with a perfect record.

In doing so, the 38-year-old matched the venerated 49-0 mark that legendary heavyweight Rocky Marciano set back in 1955 with a ninth-round knockout of another legend in Archie Moore.

Floyd Mayweather Sr., the father and trainer of Floyd Mayweather Jr., answered questions about the possibility of his son returning to break Marciano’s record.

“That was a good fight [Mayweather vs. Berto], but it has nothing to do with whether you want to continue to fight or not,” Mayweather Sr. stated following his son’s victory via FightHub.

“Just cuz you look good in a fight don’t mean that you want to fight cuz you beat that guy and you hit real good.”

When asked if he thought his son could top Marciano’s record, one can imagine his response.

“He can top Marciano if he wanted to, if it was in his mind. I don’t know what’s in his mind. To be honest, Marciano fought a lot of bums anyway.”

Even if Mayweather decides to fight one more time, at some point, we’re going to have to picture the sport without him. Some have tried to do just that but don’t see the same sport.

No offense to his son, says his father, but he has another Floyd in the making.

“Don’t get me wrong. It has nothing to do with my son. If my son leaves, I can’t say nothing about him leaving, but I got another Floyd, too,” he added. “I got another one coming, too.”

Mayweather Sr. explained that what brings a retired boxer out of retirement, more often than not, is a fighter that’s rising through the ranks that he really wants to fight. Mayweather Sr. says if it does happen again to his son, it won’t be against Gennady Golovkin.

“A lot of people want him to fight the dude ‘Triple G,’ he can’t fight no Triple G, man. Triple G is too damn big for him man,” he explained.” “He can’t whoop him, but Floyd might beat him.”

A rematch against WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto or former eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao is not on the table.

“Aw man come on, he beat those people already!” Mayweather Sr. exclaimed.

As for any of the top fighters at 147, Mayweather will likely beat them, too.

“Keith Thurman is just a one-shot hitter. Floyd beat guys like that real easy. He throws big punches like, ‘EEEEEEEEEEE!’ Floyd makes people miss shots like that all day.”
