Mikenna Tansley’s (3-0, 1 KO) young career as a professional boxer started off promising in 2019. She had all three fights of her career in Edmonton, Alberta, and was victorious each and every time. 2020 came around and that ship sank not only for her but for a majority of athletes around the world.
Tansley stayed active in the gym (when it was allowed) and continued training outside the gym because you never know when opportunity will knock on your door and it just so happens opportunity knocked in 2021 and it was bearing a gift.
Tansley is currently scheduled to fight for the 118 lb. NCC Title against Shelly Barnett. The fight is scheduled for June 19th in Chicano, Illinois.
Barnett’s last victory came in 2018 and has had one draw and four losses since then. As her level of opposition rose so did her losses.
This fight will be a great measuring stick for Tansley to see where she is at. She already looks good in the ring and this will be her toughest test to date. Barnett will be hungry for a victory and will not want to let a fighter with less experience than her take away her title. This fight will be violent and it will be entertaining. Make sure you tune in.
