If there’s one fight, which screams action that satisfies the hardcore fan, it’s Ruslan Provodnikov vs. Lucas Matthysse. The fight is seemingly on course March 28th with The Stub Hub Center being the likely venue in Carson, California.
However, the network that it will be shown on is still under consideration. Matthysse has fought his last few fights on Showtime while Provodnikov has fought on HBO. Showtime is really making a hard push to land the fight according to a report by BoxingScene.com.
“As far as I’m concerned, Oscar (De La Hoya), Eric (Gomez) and I are on the same page. We’re presenting Matthysse and Provodnikov for March the 28th, the fight will be on the network that pays the most amount of money,” Pelullo said to BoxingScene.com. Right now, where we’re at, HBO has a right to match an offer that Showtime as put on the table. We’re very excited about the fight. Whatever network buys the fight, it’ll be good for boxing.”
While Stub Hub is the frontrunner, Pelullo said that he is exploring other options for the fight as well.
“We’re looking at the StubHub Center ( in Carson, California), we’re looking at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, we’re looking at Miami and we’re also looking at Arizona. So there are several locations we’re looking at,” said Pelullo.
