Lukas Wierzbicki Noel Mejía RincónOn October 16th, Dekada Promotions will host a night of boxing in Calgary, Alberta, Canada that will feature many up and coming fighters displaying their talents. The main event for the evening looks on paper to be an exciting, action-filled fight between Polish southpaw Lukasz Wierzbicki (7-0, 3 KO’s) and his most experienced opponent to date, Mexican prospect Noel Mejia Rincón 14-6-1, 10 KO’s.

Rincón has been training for the past three months and feels confident with the way his training camp went and is currently closing in on losing the last couple pounds to make the junior welterweight limit.

Wierzbicki is undefeated as a professional and is a slick southpaw that doesn’t mind mixing it up in the ring. Rincón has done well against southpaw’s in the past and after seeing footage of Wierzbicki he feels that he and his team have the right strategy to be victorious.

“Lukaz is left-handed, a good fighter, strong, fast and is unbeaten in seven fights. I’ve seen videos of his fighting style, and I think I have the right strategy to beat him,” said Rincón. “I like fighting southpaws because I have beaten every southpaw that has been put in front of me. I have to fight calm and wait for the right moment to attack and connect strongly upstairs and downstairs and make sure he feels my power. It’s time for him to lose against a Mexican.”

Rincón comes from the Mexican state of Michoacan, which has been plagued by cartel drug wars for over a decade and is one of the most violent states throughout the country. Despite the violence, Rincón is able to stay focused and continues working hard.

“The situation in Michoacan is difficult for those in the business of drugs. I’m not part of any of those groups. I work hard and honestly always give my best. I spend a lot of quality time with my family and they motivate me to win. I will win for Zamora, Michoacan and all of Mexico.”
