Thaboxingvoice.com has learned that the 10round junior welterweight showdown between Emanuel Taylor and Antonio Orozco, which was scheduled to take place March 12th, has been cancelled due to an injury suffered by Orozco.
David Price, Taylor’s manager, informed Nestor Gibbs of Thaboxingvoice.com that the bout is off indefinitely because Orozco suffered a cut in sparring. There is no word on the severity of the cut or how long it will keep the undefeated Orozco out of action, but it will prevent him from making his next scheduled appearance.
Taylor-Orozco was part of an HBO Latino tripleheader that will feature Francisco Vargas vs. Will Tomlinson. The bout would’ve been the televised co-feature for a card taking place in San Antonio. Frankie Gomez is the third fight on the televised card.
There is no word whether or not HBO will try to find a replacement for Orozco or just proceed with the card as a doubleheader.
The Orozco camp was unavailable for comment.
