On a very special edition of Friday Night Fights on ESPN2, rapper turned boxing promoter 50 Cent will celebrate his birthday with a true bash, an eight bout boxing card televised by ESPN2 and featuring fighters literally ready to bash each other. Making his first solo SMS Audio Promotions card, Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent; has plenty of talent to showcase to entertain both the live audience and viewers at home who will have to interesting matchups to view on TV. The main event will feature the unbeaten Colombian and hard hitting light heavyweight Eleider Alvarez (12-0 8KO’s) versus the battle tested Allan Green (32-4 22KO’s) while the co-feature has the return of 50 Cent’s first fighter, Australian Billy Dib (35-2 21KO’s) against fellow featherweight Mike Oliver (25-3 8KO’s).

If anything can be said about the main event is that we shall see some fireworks after Independence Day, and that if all goes as planned they will come from Eleider “Storm” Alvarez. A native of Apartado, Colombia and fighting out of Montreal, Canada, Alvarez is making his first trip south of the border to Hartford, CT where he plans on making a successful U.S. campaign. Having had an impressive amateur career, so far Alvarez has continually impressed audiences back in his new home and has stepped up in every appearance, but now he goes in against a veteran in Allan Green who is known for spoiling the party. About eight years ago it seemed as if Green was the next superstar after having vanquished Jaidon Codrington in just 0:18 on a FNF card, since then he has impressed a few times while being completely outworked and out classed in his four losses but to some of the better names at 160 and 168. Seeking redemption and possibly another shot at the title, Green wants to spring the upset and send his boy packing, he has only one shot to do it.

The last time Billy Dib was in the ring he was walking out of one with his head down as a loser against Evgeny Gradovich in a fight where he was out hustled and beaten up by a fresher fighter, back with his promoter 50 Cent, he wants to have his hand raised in his opponent’s backyard. As a slick boxer that has good foot and hand movement, “the Kid” needs to prove his worth and get an impressive win if he wants to do as he said and get a rematch for his beloved IBF featherweight title that was taken from him, he might be able to do it against Oliver. If we look only at the last fight of each boxer, Oliver would have already lost since his last appearance in October of 2011 was disastrous as he took on a come backing Juanma Lopez and was picked apart and stopped in just two rounds. Having suffered a tough loss and reviving his career after a huge layoff of almost two years, the older Oliver will have to really oil up the “Machine” and get started quick if he wants to really be in the title mix once again, the motivation from his home town will hopefully urge him to fight back as hard as he did against Lopez and move not only the crowd, but Dib himself.
