The last time Grzegorz Proska was on TV, he was battling Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in a fight where he was crumpled by the Kazak windmill in five tough rounds. This Friday on ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights being televised live from Jacksonville, Florida; Proska (29-2 21KO’s) will get another chance to showcase his talents against the well-known and popular Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora (23-3-2 7KO’s) in a 10 round middleweight contest.

East L.A.’s Sergio Mora will finally step back in to the ring after a 10 month layoff since his last appearance in a loss against Brian Vera. The classy Mexican-American has had his ups and downs since graduating from the contender series over 8 years ago, he has won a title from the late Vernon Forrest only to have it taken back in a rematch, and had a very competitive showing when he seemingly out boxed Shane Mosley in a draw. After reaching the upper crust of the 154lb division it seemed like inactivity and a fighter named Brian Vera have kept him from competing for another title and battling a tough, talented fighter in Proska will get him ranked at 160lbs.

In the boxing world there are plenty of places where talented fighters and tough fighters come out of Poland belongs to the latter part where rough and tough fighters are being churned out. Gzegorz “Super G” Proska to date has only lost two fights, a majority decision against UK fighter Kerry Hope that he avenged with a 8th round TKO rematch, and of course his most famous fight to date, against Gennady Golovkin. The polish battler definitely has the talent and skills to go with the grit to be a major player at either junior middleweight or middleweight, but first he must take care of Sergio Mora who will be a tough gate keeper to the top tier of his weight class.

Going in to this fight and being the first official card of the summer on TV, both fighters will bring the heat in what should be a high paced, entertaining fight. With one fighter looking to use his IQ and the other trying to redeem himself with a powerful showing, we might have another contender at 160lbs if they can stay busy after a victory.
