Three division world champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez will finally have the opportunity of a lifetime to showcase his boxing skills in front of the world when he takes on Edgar Sosa on the undercard of Gennady Golovkin-Willie Monroe Jr. live on HBO on May 16th.
“Thank you, God,” said Gonzalez about his fight. “A dream turned reality of a fight televised on HBO Boxing. I will see you all on May 16th at The Forum where my mentor Alexis Arguello won his first world title!”
In Gonzalez last fight, he made quick work of Valentin Leon with a 3rd round TKO to start the year off with a bang. This opportunity to fight on HBO is not just a milestone in his career but for many other fighters in the lower weight classes that are largely ignored due to their size.
The upcoming fight with Sosa will be no easy task as Sosa is currently riding a two-fight win streak since losing to Akira Yaegashi (a common opponent for the two) in December of 2013 and beating Giovanni Segura before the Yaegashi fight.
