GonzalezRoman300NF_1If there is a bout most boxing pundits want to see televised on HBO or Showtime, it’s a flyweight rematch between Roman Gonzalez and Juan Francisco Estrada. Gonzalez was the victor in their first bout in a fight that saw Estrada be as competitive as anyone who has fought Gonzalez. Estrada and Gonzalez have gone their separate ways knocking out whoever is put in front of them in the very deep 112 lb. division. Now we all hope we can see them fight next year.

Gonzalez on ESPN Deportes’s Podcast is very confident of a knockout victory if the two were to meet again.

“I’m going to knock him (Estrada) out,” stated Estrada. “The first time we fought I didn’t prepare myself to the maximum but now I have the right team and I’m going to knock him out. The truth is I know him and I have plenty of experience to get the job done.”

But the first fight was tough and Gonzalez acknowledged that.

“I know the first fight was tough and tight. He’s a very good fighter that I respect. He’s grown a lot since he has become world champion. But when we fight again I’m going to show him I’m the best,” stated Gonzalez.

112 is a very deep division but the two best fighters are Gonzalez and Estrada so a move up for Gonzalez if and after he fights Estrada could be in the cards to fight against the winner of Omar Narvaez-Naoya Inoue.

“If I go to 115, I will still remain the champion at 112. Hopefully they give me permission to move up for a fight with the winner of Narvaez-Inoue and I won’t lose my 112 titles.”
