After dominating the 105 and 108 pound divisions Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez may soon be on the verge of dominating yet another division, 112 pounds.

Gonzalez was recently ranked as  the number two contender for the WBO title right behind Giovani Segura to face Juan Francisco Estrada whom Gonzalez holds a victory over.

The next organization to rank Gonzalez in a top spot was The Ring. Gonzalez has taken over the number one spot which was previously held by Estrada and the reason behind it seems very obvious. The quality of fighter Gonzalez has become over the years has put him there. If you add the fact that the top guys in the division seem unwilling to face him it just makes him look that much more better as a fighter.

Gonzalez is happy to be ranked highly. His move up in weight was to get better fights and the rankings should help and he should no longer have to seek out opponents.

“I’m happy that my work is being recognized,” said Gonzalez. “I want to fight the best in my class and that is why I went up to 112 pounds to secure good fights. I am ready for anyone and am not seeking  out opponents.”

The ultimate goal for Gonzalez this year is to become the second fighter in Nicaragua’s history to win three world titles in three different divisions which is a feat that Alexis Arguello was able to do in his career.
