Undefeated Shawn “Showtime” Porter’s only professional blemish is a draw he had with Julio Diaz at the tail end of 2012. A little less than a year later he defeated Diaz in a one side unanimous decision that put him into the title talks. He got his shot against IBF Champion Devon Alexander.

Porter came into the fight as the underdog dog, but when talks came out of his camp about the level of sparring he was getting, some started to think that an upset could be brewing. Porter went on to capture the IBF title winning a decisive victory over Alexander.  This wasn’t Alexander’s first taste of defeat, in 2011 he lost against Timothy Bradley.  During the preparation for the Alexander fight, Porter admits that Bradley and his camp were open to giving him advice. “We had Joel Diaz work the corner against one of my sparring sessions against Demetrius Andrade.”

Porter continued to say,  “Timothy came in like he was one of my teammates, rattling off information and it confirmed our game plan was solid and we went in there and made it happen.”

Currently the mandatory challenger for Porter’s IBF title is undefeated Sheffield, England fighter Kell Brook, who is coming off an impressive stoppage over Vyacheslav Senchenko. Porter feels that a fight between him and anyone in the 147lb division would be exciting but he is leaving the business up to his management team. “My dad’s my manager and Al Hamon is my advisor and they will put their heads together.” Should the fight happen Porter wants the fight to be over in the states, “If it’s him (Brook), come over from across the sea and come get it (The IBF Title).”
