It was reported by Boxingscene.com last week that Ray Beltran failed a post-fight drug test after his May 1st stoppage win over Takahiro Ao, resulting in him being pulled from an upcoming fight with Humberto Soto.
With Beltran off the card, it was later announced by ESPN.com that Soto would remain on the card as HBO, Top Rank, and Golden Boy, Soto’s promoter, searched for a replacement opponent for the June 27th bout on the undercard of Bradley-Vargas.
However, news broke last night that Soto has officially pulled out of the card entirely, siting a knee injury as the reason. ESPN.com reported the news and it is the second fight in two months that has been cancelled for Soto, the first being Frankie Gomez who failed to make weight for his May 9th fight with Soto.
Jose Felix Jr. was the opponent being considered for Soto, but the news of the injury came just as the fight was being finalized.
