Canadian welterweight champion Steve “The Dragon” Claggett is set to return the ring on November 21st in Calgary, Alberta, Canada but a possible future fight with rising Canadian welterweight Josh Wagner may come up sometime in the future which could produce quite a bit of fireworks.
Earlier this week I spoke with Wagner and said that I’d love to see him and Claggett square off in the ring. Wagner had said that after a few fights with eight to ten rounds he would love to “lay an ass whooping” on Claggett and that they had sparred in the past with Wagner getting the best of Claggett which didn’t sit well with the champion.
“(Laughs) Says the kid who just got dropped from his promoter and can’t find a gym,” said Claggett in response to Wagner’s comments. “He sparred me [while he was ] in fight condition the day after I got back from vacation and still jumped out after 6. This kid, who is (from good sources in Edmonton) 180 pounds smoking cigarettes outside of the bar. I have a fight November 21 in Calgary at the Chinese Cultural Centre and we’ll see if the talk continues after the show I put on. I like Ryan and we are cool so don’t bring him into it. I thought Josh and I were cool too but classic case of friendly to your face talk sh*t behind your back. It’s all good though, it’s the fight game and that’s what we’re supposed to do. November 21 is the date, don’t miss it !”
