Since suffering a devastating TKO loss to Shawn Porter on April 19th of last year, former two-division world champion Paul Malignaggi (33-6 7KO’s) has been unsure if he was going to continue his boxing career. As many fans already know, Paul has a full-time gig as a boxing commentator for Showtime and is certainly in no desperate situation for money.
However, as of late Malignaggi has been sounding positive about the possibility of a ring return and has been in the gym training and even sparring welterweight contender Sadam Ali of Brooklyn New York. Also, I asked Paul Malignaggi if he would be training with Eric Brown if he was ever to make a ring return. His response was
“Yes, I’m waiting for Eric to finish camp with Quillin then will sit and talk to him”
From a fans perspective looking in from the outside, it sounds like there is a very good chance that the Magic Man is indeed going to resume his boxing career and make a ring return soon.
Paul Malignaggi has had a good career in boxing and has achieved more than most fighters do. Despite having a huge punching power deficit. He’s got nothing to prove and I wouldn’t mind seeing him retire. However, I also think he can still take part in interesting fights if matched correctly and wouldn’t mind seeing him fight again.
