Buenos Aires, Argentina (July 8, 2015)–This Friday night in Buenos Aires, Argentina, undefeated and world ranked, junior-welterweight Mauro Maximiliano Godoy will defend the WBO Latino and Argentinian 140 pound titles when he takes on Xavier Luques Castillo.
Godoy of Centenario, Argentina has a record of 19-0 with eight knockouts and is currently ranked No. 9 by the WBO.
Castillo of Cordoba, Argentina is 13-4 with four knockouts.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to fight for Banner Promotions, and I will capitalize on being with a great company,” said Godoy.
“I have big expectations. Castillo has fought internationally, so it is an opportunity to prove I can fight at a high level. This will be a good fight but I will win the fight fight cleanly and emphatically.”
A win over Castillo will set up Godoy for a major fight in the United States.
“I am preparing to be the on the big stage in the United States. This is a new opportunity with Banner Promotions. I will prove that I have the qualities to become a star.”
Godoy will be the latest import from Argentina to be able to make a big name for himself, following in the footsteps of the likes of Lucas Matthysse, Marcos Maidana and Diego Chaves.
