Walter Castilo (22-2, 15 KO’s) is one of Nicaragua’s top fighters and is in the top ten pound for pound fighters at 140 pounds in the WBA’s ranking, He showed why with his recent victory over Rosemberg Gomez who had said that he was going to knock Castillo out within four rounds but then decided not to fight on after taking monstrous shots to the body.
“I was surprised that he stayed in the corner and did not want to continue,” said Castillo. “He talked too much and did not follow through. It was an easy win. In fact, it was one of the easiest I’ve had in my career and I shut him up.”
Castillo is only 24 years old and is by far the best 140 pound fighter in Nicaragua and he knows it. “Of course I am the best fighter in Nicaragua at 140 pounds. Rosemberg was bragging that he is the national champion but I proved that I am better than him and that no one at 140 to 147 pounds in Nicaragua can beat me.” Although he has a lot of promise the question that remains for this fighter is when does he get to take it to the next level and fight in North America against other top competition.
