The upcoming WBO Junior Middleweight championship bout between Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (19-0 13 KOs) and Zaurbek Baysangurov (28-1 20 KOs) has been cancelled. Baysangurov (The Champion) was looking forward to defending his title in his backyard in Kiev, Ukraine against Andrade but injured his back while in training for the fight.

This will not derail Andrade’s first title shot as the WBO is ordering Andrade to fight for the now vacant title against the number one contender Vanes Martirosyan (32-0 21 KOs). Martirosyan is coming off a win, making quick work of Ryan Davis this past Saturday on the undercard of Garcia vs Lopez. Most notably Martirosyan fought his way to a draw with top Junior Middleweight Contender Erislandy Lara, when their fight was stopped in the 9th round due to an accidental clash of heads.

The winner of Andrade and Martirosyan will then be ordered to fight Baysangurov as he will remain the number one contender for the WBO title. This fight could be a blessing in disguise for both Martirosyan and Andrade, as this fight will most likely attract more attention from both the media and fans.

Should this fight go down, the contract will have to be renegotiated. The bout has a good chance at falling on the undercard of one of the bigger fights towards the end of the year.

Andrade and Martirosyan have been trying to prove that they are top Junior Middleweights, now they both will have their chances—against each other.
