On June 8th the Bell Centre in Montreal will showcase a great title fight between Chad Dawson and Adonis Stevenson on HBO. The crowd will most definitely be pro Stevenson but with a huge Cuban population in Canada there may be an even more pro Yuriorkis Gamboa crowd.

This will be the first fight at 135 pound division for “El Ciclon de Guantánamo” and his first fight in Canada as well. As of now it seems Gamboa will be facing off against Darley Perez in the co-main event. Perez is an undefeated lightweight from Colombia.

It will be interesting to see how Gamboa will fare at lightweight due to him being legitimately hurt in his last fight at 130 pounds. Gamboa is often criticized for his lack of defense and for good reason. Gamboa has the tendency to fight with his hands down almost at all times leaving his chin exposed to take massive amounts of punches. Though his hands are down, Gamboa is great at slipping punches and has mainly gone to the canvas from being off balance with his awkward style.

Gamboa will add a huge amount of excitement to the venue and should be ready to take on Montreal, but the question that needs to be answered: “Is Montreal Ready to Be Hit by a  Tornado?”
