zzzabThaBoxingVoice’s Sean Zittel spoke briefly with former undisputed world welterweight champion Zab Judah about the upcoming super fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

Zab was asked about how a fight between him and Manny would have gone if they were in their prime, but he didn’t bother to speculate. Instead, Judah decided to give Pacquiao some praise as both a fighter and a man.

“I don’t know; we never did it… I got respect for Manny Pacquiao… as a fighter and as a person. Every time I met him, he was always nice to me, always a humble person, always a great guy.”

This was actually nice to hear coming from a guy that is not only friend’s with Floyd Mayweather Jr. but is also scheduled to spar with him in the lead-up to the fight. Zab also had great things to say about the Mayweather-Pacquiao match-up.

“I know come May 2nd, it’s gonna be the greatest fight. You’re gonna see two of the greatest fighters of today come in the ring in top notch shape and do what they gotta do.”

Judah is sure the fight will be worth the wait as he reiterated that he does not agree with those that fear the fight might end up an underwhelming affair.

“No, I don’t think that. I know for a 100 percent fact, this is gonna be an action packed fight, it’s gonna be great… I just don’t wanna miss it.”

Zab has always been a straight shooter, and as he has matured, that straight shooting has been less and less clouded by emotion than in the past. Regardless of his alliances, he’s giving credit where credit is due and remains positive about how the fight will turn out for the fans. It’s a welcome perspective in light of some folk’s increasingly negative outlook on anything boxing has in store for them.

I am also in the camp of people that believes there will be a good amount of action in the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. Manny Pacquiao’s history shows that he has the speed and skills to force the pace of any fight. Unless Floyd Mayweather Jr. were to turn into Andre Berto and completely shell up (he won’t), why is everyone so worried? Unless you expect Manny to pull a disappearing act in the face of adversity, I think it is safe to say that this fight will be pretty entertaining.

Zab Judah guarantees that Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will entertain live from The MGM Grand Garden Arena via Pay Per View on May 2nd.
