Floyd Mayweather Sr. Floyd Mayweather Jr.Floyd Mayweather Jr(47-0, 26KO’s) will face Manny Pacquiao(57-5-2, 38KO’s) on May 2nd in Las Vegas for not only the WBA Super, WBC and WBO welterweight titles, but for who will be forever remembered as the eminent force in this particular pugilistic era.

Floyd Jr has eclipsed the efforts of his uncle Roger Mayweather and his father Floyd Mayweather Sr, who both laced up the gloves with respectable results in decades past. Both men now occupy prime positions in Jr’s camp in preparation for the most important night of a career filled with mega-fights.

Floyd Sr took some time out of his pressing schedule to indulge a cameraman from ‘Dontae’s Boxing Nation’ with some of his timeless knowledge in typically acerbic fashion.

“We got so many ways to whup the man, we can’t even tell you what we gon’ do. We already know you understand me?”

Asking for specific stratagems on the eve of such an important outing would obviously be out of the question, but Sr began to display some of the assets he generously passed down to his son by jabbing in to the air for the benefit of a giggling man to his right. For those present, I imagine it was all the confirmation required to confirm Floyd Jr’s victory on May 2nd.

“You don’t get no tastier than that and guess what? I am 62 years old.”

Some more pertinent information there, and he continued in this vein when asked what he thought about comments made by Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach, who professed their plan was to jump on Floyd Jr early and take away the breathing room in which he operates at his best.

“Manny’s not gon’ listen to that. I can tell you that. That’s the craziest thing Freddie Roach said in the world is jump on Floyd.”

Floyd Mayweather Sr communicates in a vague, semi-sensical manner. He is correct in that his son’s opponents generally punch less in their bouts with him than in other, less pressure-filled events. But, it is difficult to dispute the assertion that the few times we have seen Jr looking dishevelled is against fighters who have come to close the gap and throw lots of punches; Jose Luis Castillo and Marcos Maidana. Surely that would be the most logical route to take then? Whatever Sr means when he speaks, his belief in his son’s infallibility is clear to see.
