“I spoke with Eric Gomez and (Golden Boy matchmaker) Robert Diaz and they asked if Demetrius would be available to fight Canelo in September,” Hearn told ESPN on Wednesday. “The answer is a big yes and although I don’t think we are first choice, it’s the undisputed fight and one Demetrius would be 100 percent ready for. We will see what happens over the next few days.”
Munguai is co-promoted by Beltran and Golden Boy Promotions. And Golden Boy also handles Canelo.
“This morning I spoke with [Golden Boy CEO] Oscar [De La Hoya] and he asked me if there was interest in the fight between Jaime and Canelo,” Beltran told ESPN Deportes.
“I told him that our interest is very high and then he sent me an offer that we are reviewing. It would be sensational for Mexico if two of its champions face off and put our boxing on top.”
