Hugo Centeno Jr. cruised to an uneventful unanimous decision victory over KeAndre Leatherwood in a 10 round junior middleweight contest on ShoBox: The New Generation Friday night. The card was live from the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.
It was a difficult fight for Centeno Jr. to look good in due in part to the excessive holding on the behalf of Leatherwood. The clinching was so bad that referee Pat Russell nearly took a point away from Leatherwood for his lack of effort and his desire to engage in action.
Centeno Jr. did land some significant shots throughout the fight and did his best work in the middle rounds, however it wasn’t the kind of performance that will have fans clamoring to see him in action anytime soon. The judges scored the bout: 100-90, 100-89 and 99-91.
