A knockout/stoppage loss can do even more to a fighter and destroy their mentality to continue fighting on but some fighters use that to continue fighting on and to better themselves. Japanese fighter Akira Yaegashi will attempt to better himself and move on in his career on December 30th when he will move down in weight to take on Mexican Pedro Guevara for the WBC light flyweight title which became available when Naoya Inoue decided to move up in weight by two division.
Yaegashi fought a brave, entertaining fight against Nicaragua’s Roman Gonzalez in September and hit the canvas twice in that bout then eventually lost via TKO in the ninth round.  Now, Yaegashi will get to stage his comeback on the big stage and it will provide an opportunity for him that he thought he would never be able to have.
“I am happy that I will be standing on a big stage like this for my comeback fight,” said Yaegashi who has also won the minimum weight title. “Never in my dreams did I think I would get a crack at three weight classes when I started out as a boxer.”
