Johnathon Banks has signed with Tara Thomas Agency and we are excited about this new addition & relationship! He is scheduled to fight Antoino Tarver and this is sure to be a win for Johnathon.

There will be a special Monday night (September 29) heavyweight battle on Fox Sports 1′s Golden Boy Live where the highly anticipated fight will feature 32-year old Banks as he returns to the ring to face Tarver in Hidalgo, Texas.

“Tarver is a crafty veteran who deserves respect for what he’s done in the sport, but his time has passed and I’ll remind him of that on September 29.” -Johnathon Banks

Banks, who has not fought since his June 2013 loss to Seth “Mayhem” Mitchell which aired on Showtime, now spends most of his time serving as the lead trainer for World Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko.

He took on that role after the passing of the legendary boxer, trainer and commentator, Emanuel Steward— who trained Banks during the start of his career.

The prodigy is for sure walking in the footsteps of his former World Boxing Hall of Fame mentor.

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya believes it’s a pick ’em matchup.

“This is a great matchup between two veteran heavyweights who can show a lot of the younger kids how it’s done,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to this one and as far as picking a winner, it’s a toss-up.”[BadLeftHook.com]
