Eddie Hearn is already in search for Kell Brook’s next fight. After Brook stopped Frankie Gavin in the sixth round, the questions began for a possible showdown with Amir Khan.

Khan won a decision the night before against Chris Algieri, and his focus seems to be set in getting a fall fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Hearn is targeting a summer date for Brook likely against Mexican-American Brandon Rios.

“We are targeting August 29 and I would to do it at Bramall Lane. Rios is still my preferred choice because he is the perfect fight style wise and entertainment wise,” Hearn told reporters at the post-fight press-conference. “Bob Arum and Top Rank still want the fight. We made one offer; they turned it down now they are considering a second one. I think we will get it done.”

Hearn admits that the fight with Khan is the biggest out there, but he feels the other side doesn’t want the fight. Hearn isn’t moving on from the bout, but he says right now it won’t get done because Khan is still holding out for a fight with either Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao.

“I’ve lost passion for the Amir Khan fight because it seems so far away,” stated Hearn. “Khan is just scared of fighting Kell because of the potential of losing and what it would do to his career. If they lose to Kell, they won’t get Mayweather or Pacquiao.”

But he says he will still make the call. If the Khan fight materializes it would be in the fall but says he wants to move quickly and have Brook’s next opponent announced by next week.

“We could do the Millennium Stadium in October or November. If we got the Khan fight, we would wait until October or November but we haven’t got long. We probably have about a week until we get Kell’s next opponent signed.”
