Wadi Camacho will face Stephen Simmons for the WBC International Silver Cruiserweight title at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow on Friday June 27, live on Sky Sports.
Camacho has been cleared by the Scottish Boxing Board to take on the Glasgow man after their heated exchange in a press conference for the original date of the contest in March.
The 28 year old Londoner has been embroiled in a bitter social media feud with Simmons, and the pair finally settle the score in Glasgow and get the chance to make waves in the 200lb division in three weeks’ time.
“I can’t wait to finally get my hands on the ‘Cookie Monster’ in a few weeks,” said Camacho. “We’ve been back and forth on Twitter and Facebook for months now, so I am looking forward to the chat stopping and getting in there and destroying him.
“The division is there for the taking. I should’ve beaten Tony Conquest in our British title eliminator in October and been British champion by now, but I’ve learnt from my mistakes that night and this time round, when I have Simmons in trouble I will finish him off.”
Camacho and Simmons lock horns on a huge night of boxing in Glasgow as Ricky Burns is gunning for a return to winning ways against the unbeaten Montenegrin Dejan Zlaticanin for the WBC International Lightweight title and as an official eliminator for the World title.
Willie Limond defends his Commonwealth title against Curtis Woodhouse, Jon Slowey faces Kris Hughes for the vacant Celtic Featherweight title, unbeaten Lightweight star Scotty Cardle is set for a step-up fight and there is action for unbeaten Scottish talents David Brophy and Michael Roberts.
