There were hopes of Canelo fighting Caleb Plant this upcoming Mexican Independence Day weekend but as time went on and no fight announcement ever happened fight fans were left disappointed.

There was a lot of chatter going on from Plant’s side as to why the fight did not go through and one of those reasons were Canelo’s demand for a high monetary figure for a replacement opponent if Plant withdraws from the bout. Fans laughed and scoffed at Canelo’s demands until earlier this week when Errol Spence Jr. pulled out of his upcoming bout with Manny Pacquiao. It was not until this happened that fans thought to themselves “shit that was not a bad idea.”

Meanwhile, all this was happening and Canelo was quite the whole time.

On Friday (August 13th) afternoon Mike Coppinger Tweeted that the two were once again near a deal for their potential undisputed match.

“Sources: Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant are once again nearing a deal for an undisputed super middleweight title fight, a PBC on Fox PPV that would take place in November,” stated Coppinger. “Alvarez-Plant was agreed to for Sept. 18 before it fell apart last month.”

Hopefully it happens so that it does not get dragged along like other fights have in the past. It’s on again, it’s off again. It reminds me of some of the girls I went to high school with and their relationship status. In the words of Larry The Cable Guy let’s “get-r-done” so that we may move on to what will follow the outcome of this matchup.
