Carlos “Chocorroncito” Buitrago (26-0, 16 KO’s) of Nicaragua will fight on Friday, July 19th for the interim 105 pound WBO title in Mexico against the heavily favored Yedras Julian (21-0, 13 KO’s) who will be looking to hand the Nicaraguan fighter his first loss in front of Julian’s home crowd.
Aside from the hometown advantage for Julian, Buitrago was not brought into the country until Tuesday; which Buitrago’s team believes that Azteca Promotions does to affect foreign fighters.
“The world title will come to Nicaragua. My son will become champion. No doubt about it. On Friday we will have the eleventh world champion in the history of Nicaragua,” said Mauricio Buitrago who is the father and trainer of Carlos and a former professional boxer.”Carlos has the tools to beat the Mexican but we are not underestimating him but my son is more technical and faster. Over the years we Carlos has managed to acquire enough experience to handle everything that he may encounter in the ring.”
The fight will be broadcast on Prodesa Promotions website: www.prodesa.com.ni .
