In the other celebrity fight on the Mayweather-Paul undercard, former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad “OchoCinco” Johnson showcased his hands in a different way against 0-3 Brian Maxwell. Despite the fact that Johnson was put down in the 4th round of the contest, he looked good at times and understood the nature of reach within the sweet science.
While it could be argued that Maxwell’s knockdown stole the show, and thus the headlines, it could also be argued that Johnson– in a sport that heavily favors its stars– would’ve likely taken a decision. He did enough.
All of that and Johnson is still far from anything resembling a polished fighter at the professional level, but that did not stop him from calling out Conor McGregor in his post-fight.
The question is not, ‘who wins?’ because McGregor would be heavily favored. The question is would you buy it?
