Manny-Pacquiao-vs-Floyd-Mayweather-2While Oscar De La Hoya is keen on making Canelo Alvarez and James Kirkland on May 2nd in Texas, he’s also a boxing fan. He would love to see Floyd Mayweather pick Manny Pacquiao so they could fight on May 2nd in Las Vegas. If that were to occur, Canelo-Kirkland would move to May 9th on HBO. If not Canelo-Kirkland would stay on May 2nd and go head to head with whoever Mayweather fights not named Pacquiao on May 2nd.

In an interview with BoxingScene.com, De La Hoya explained that he hopes the fight is made for boxing and the boxing fan because it will revitalize boxing and make the fans happy as well.

“You have Amir Khan, Miguel Cotto and obviously you have Manny Pacquiao. I’m really hoping it is Pacquiao, because that’s the fight the whole industry wants to see, that’s the fight that will revitalize the whole industry, [that’s the fight that] will shatter records in boxing. I’m hoping that fight does happen. We’ll just wait and see, but if it doesn’t then Canelo will obviously go on May 2nd,” De La Hoya told BoxingScene.com.

Rumors had it made that Mayweather would announce the fight yesterday during the NBA All-Star Game. However, when he was interviewed courtside by TNT, Mayweather said that the fight wasn’t done yet. Is the window closing and how long will De La Hoya wait before moving forward with his bout? As Doug Fisher from The Ring calls it, The Never Ending Story continues.
