Vasyl Lomachenko took care of business in his first fight since losing his titles last year to Teofimo Lopez. Loma took on and handily defeated Masayoshi Nakatani via 9th round stoppage.

During the fight and throughout the telecast the commentators were really grooming fans to believe that Loma had issues and refused to pull out of the Lopez fight. In not doing so Loma suffered one of the biggest upsets in recent boxing history. One would figure that it would end there and Loma would build off that loss and try do get a rematch but excuses fly from every corner of the boxing world on the “fact” that something was wrong and not that Lopez was able to do that good.

This is an issue that does not sit well with many. Jamel Herring feels that Lopez is being discredited and that a rematch may fix the issue but then again it may leave us with more questions than answers.

“Lomachenko is still a top fighter in the game, but for them to push ‘there was glitch’ narrative, is discrediting Teofimo’s biggest win of his career,” Tweeted Herring. “Maybe a rematch happens to remove all doubt on both sides… maybe.”
