shoboxIt has recently been announced that Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller (15-0-1, 13 KOs) will be taking on southpaw Donovan Dennis (12-2, 10 KOs) in the main event on ShoBox January 22nd from Tucson Arizona.

ShoBox has always been praised for matching their prospects with tough competition, and this main event is the perfect example. Miller will face a solid fighter in Donovan Dennis, who is known for competing in ESPN’s Boxcino tournament earlier this year, losing to Andrey Fedosov in the finals by 8th round stoppage.

“Big Baby” has an impressive pedigree to say the least. He was a former sparring partner of the Klitschko brothers and was a kickboxer and MMA fighter who compiled an undefeated record before he began boxing professionally. Jarrell Miller has arguably looked better and appears to be a well-rounded prospect when compared to other PBC/Haymon heavyweights such as Gerald Washington and Dominic Breazeale.

Dennis despite having two knockout losses early in his career, is still a fighter who with a win in this fight, could be set up for big things in the future. One thing Dennis has displayed is explosive power, scoring a SportsCenter Top 10 spot with his knockout of Razvan Cojanu in the Boxcino semifinals.

Miller has looked like a wrecking ball thus far, but his chin has not been tested yet, and Dennis if anything could do just that. Not to mention, Donovan is a 6’4 southpaw with pop, something that Miller has not seen yet.

Another intriguing manner of this fight will be the weight of Jarrell Miller. Miller has known to weigh in 255 for a fight and 280 for the next one, a trend that cannot be viewed as healthy or beneficial. Miller vs Dennis is a fantastic ShoBox main event to kick off 2016, and one of these fighters with a win may move on to PBC Bounce/FS1 cards by next summer.
