Saturday night Jessica Camara was scheduled to take on Victoria Noelia Bustos for the vacant WBO Super Lightweight Title. It would have been Camara’s first fight since her career defining fight after her victory over Heather Hardy last May but due to visa issues on Bustos end there is no longer a fight.
“I got some very disappointing news this morning,” stated Camara via social media earlier this morning. “I will not be fighting this Friday. Apparently, my opponent had visa issues and was denied entry into the USA. I am heart broken but this is a part of the sport. Not much I can do but stay positive and wait for my next opportunity. Thank you all who have been supporting me. My time will come.”
This is truly a devastating blow to Camara but such is life in boxing. Nothing is guaranteed until that opening bell rings.
Bustos was scheduled to fight Mary McGee but McGee suffered an injury causing her to withdraw from the bout which provided Camara with the opportunity to step in.
