leo-santa-cruzLeo Santa Cruz is one week away from his 2015 debut. To the fans dislike, he’s fighting Jesus Ruiz. Santa Cruz wants the fans to know that no fight is an easy fight and will be 100% ready for Jesus Ruiz.

“People are saying he’s an easy fight but no opponent is easy once you get in the ring,” Santa Cruz told ThaBoxingVoice.com. “Some of the easier opponents make the harder fights. I don’t underestimate any opponent. I’m going to give it 100 percent. He has fought for a title before and all those times, he’s gotten a draw so that shows he’s prepared to win. He’s not an easy fighter. He knows it’s a great opportunity for him so he’s coming to win.”

Should Santa Cruz be victorious as many are expecting him to be, pundits want Santa Cruz to be in a big fight and Santa Cruz agrees with that notion.

“Hopefully everything goes good with this fight. I want to be the main event already,” stated Santa Cruz. “I think it could be against Abner Mares, Scott Quigg, or Carl Frampton, it could be any of those fighters.”

Santa Cruz is with Al Haymon and as many people in the industry feel, he picks the easiest route for his fighters, especially in 2014. Santa Cruz says he will push for those big fights after next Saturday.

“I don’t choose my fights,” explained Santa Cruz. “I’m here to fight whoever they tell me to. I’m going to start asking for the big fights, Quigg, Frampton, Mares, and Rigondeaux. I’m going to push them to give me those fights for the fans.”

Santa Cruz has been called out plenty of times by Guillermo Rigondeaux and says he’s not afraid of the Cuban champion but hopes he fights more like he did in Japan and runs less.

“He didn’t run as much as before,” explained Rigondeaux. “He’s trying to get the fans to like him. Hopefully when he fights me he doesn’t run and he stands still. I think he’s not exciting. Fans are used to watching Mexicans fight and throw a lot of punches. Rigondeaux throws one, three punches and waits and the fans don’t like it. But in his last fight he did a lot more of throwing punches because maybe he’s trying to please the fans. He’s starting to do little by little.”
