What’s more corrupt: amateur boxing or pro boxing?

Ask anyone that is involved in the sport and you will get mixed answers. There are plenty of similarities within both such as judges can be paid off and hometown fighters have to be sparked out and you still may not get the victory. The more popular the fighter is the more cloudy things become.

Women’s boxing has it’s fair share of problems especially in the U.S. The pay is shit and the fighters are often disregarded. Some may say the fans are to blame but the promotors play a huge part of that. At one point in time Dana White said there will never be women fighting in the UFC and many fans agreed with him but when he put women on fight cards and built them up many fans changed their minds. That same strategy still gets ignored with many promoters within the U.S. which could be viewed as discriminatory.

The promoters hold a part of the responsibility but it’s not all on them. Melissa Oddessa believes some of the fighters are to blame for the way women’s boxing is handled and if this type of fuckery were to happen in the amateurs’ there would be numerous lawsuits.

“Women’s boxing is such a cluster fuck,” stated Oddessa via Twitter. “USA Boxing and the IOC would see endless lawsuits if they pulled the stunts [that] are pulled in pro boxing. Some of you promoters and female fighters are part of the problem too. Sanctioning body has 99 problems and a solution ain’t one.”
