download (2)In July 2013, it was reported that there was going to be a spin-off to the Rocky series titled Creed. It turned out to be true, as Michael B. Jordan will star as the grandson of Rocky Balboa’s rival-turned-friend Apollo Creed. Sylvester Stallone will reprise his role as Rocky Balboa and will serve as Creed’s trainer.

For Michael B. Jordan, the role was a dream come true, as he has been a die-hard boxing fan since his time as a kid.

“I have been a fan of boxing since I have been growing up,” said Jordan. “My director Ryan Coogler, who was the writer and director for Fruitvale Station, we have a great appreciation for the sport, as well as the Rocky franchise. To be a part of Creed is just awesome, so we are looking forward to doing it,” he explained.

While filming has not begun, Jordan exclusively told Tha Boxing Voice that they are in the preparation stage as of now.

“We are just in prep, just training,” added Jordan. “I came here trying to watch my boy Gabe (Rosado). Unfortunately, he did not take it home tonight, so I am going to support him, and learn as much as I can around the sport.”

An imperative part of being a professional boxer is to live, breathe, and eat like a champion. A long-time fan of the sport, Jordan knew he had to start training his body early.

“One hundred percent training, diet, and working out.” said Jordan. “I take it very seriously. Guys like him putting their life on the line every night, I cannot come in and half-ass it, so we will do it justice.”
