The first main event in the Monday night boxing series on fox sports 1 pitted a fight between the ‘Miracle Man’, Danny Jacobs from Brooklyn, NY against local New Yorker Dominican born Giovanni Lorenzo. Both fighters looked in good shape but early on Jacobs looked like the more confident fighter, giving Lorenzo different looks. But Lorenzo is no stranger to big fights and is unfazed.
Jacobs jabbed Lorenzo in the early goings keeping Lorenzo a little off balanced. Lorenzo said in the corner in Spanish that, “He was going to catch him.” Jacobs wasn’t inept to Lorenzo’s rough house tactics when Lorenzo would put him on the ropes.
In the third round, Lorenzo landed what was probably his best punch in the round, a nice stiff left jab that backed Jacobs up and may have cut Jacobs. Jacobs seemed to get motivated after a cut and attacked Lorenzo and landed a big left hand and followed it by a huge right hand and sent Lorenzo to the ground. Lorenzo tried to get up but fell once again giving Jacobs an impressive stoppage victory.
Jacobs after the fight was graceful stating, “I wanted to make a statement and I did. I knew I had the skills over him. I didn’t let him get into my head. He hit me with a good left hook and it brought the Brooklyn out of me after he cut me.”
