Omar DouglasThe Fox Sports 1 “Toe-to-Toe Tuesdays” platform of the Premier Boxing Champions series has delivered cards that feature the future rising stars of the sport in early stages of their careers, and that tradition will continue two weeks from today on the last Tuesday of the year.

Undefeated highly touted super featherweight prospect Omar “Super O” Douglas (15-0, 11 KOs) will take on fellow prospect and Puerto Rican-born Frank De Alba (17-1-2, 6 KOs) in the main event on “Toe to Toe Tuesdays” on December 29th in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Douglas last fought on a PBC on FS1 event back in September on the undercard of Sammy Vasquez vs Jose Lopez, and now he gets the opportunity of being the A-side in the main event. Douglas won that fight by ten round unanimous decision and scored a knockdown in each of the first two rounds in what turned out to be a very entertaining fight.

Douglas called for this fight during the summer, and now is finally getting his wish to face the Philadelphia native in his home state. Douglas talked to the media about his upcoming clash with De Alba and displayed the confidence and swagger of an undefeated fighter.

“I’ve been working really hard and getting great work in camp. It’s an opportunity of a lifetime and I plan to take advantage of it. I know how to beat this guy and I know that I am in great shape. I expect an early night, but if it goes 10 rounds, so be it.”

De Alba will be Douglas’ stiffest test to date, however. After losing the first fight of his career, and starting off 2-1-2 in his first five fights, one of those draws coming against Tevin Farmer, the Puerto Rican De Alba has been on fire.

He is 15-0 with 5 knockouts since, and will be looking to make a statement when he faces Douglas. De Alba stated how he is grateful for this opportunity, and will make the most of it,

“I’ve had to make a lot of sacrifices to get to this stage. Now that were here, I’m going to take advantage. I know he is a strong fighter, but we will be 100 percent come fight night. This will be an entertaining fight and I will give fans what they paid for.”

Judging by his record, one would assume that Douglas has the knockout power between the two, but De Alba has scored a knockout in two of his last five fights and has wins against slightly better opposition than Douglas does.

De Alba will have to be weary of Douglas’ left hook, as that was his money punch in his last fight, scoring a knockdown in the second round with it. Two super featherweights eager to make a name for themselves will battle it out on the last PBC event of the year in what should be an exhilarating fight.
