In a battle of unbeaten’s Samuel Figueroa (10-0-0) defeated Javontae Starks (13-1-0) via unanimous decision (78-74, 77-75, 77-75). At ringside I viewed the fight much closer scoring it a draw.
Both fighters were victorious in their last fight featured on the undercard of the last PBC on Bounce TV (at Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL) and are from the Orlando Florida area, so a clash between these two seemed inevitable. These two proud hometown fighters didn’t disappoint putting on a valiant effort leaving it all in the ring.
Round By Round Analysis
Round one began with southpaw Figueroa putting a lot of pressure on the taller Starks, landing some clean hooks. 10-9 Figueroa
In the Second round, Starks began to find his rhythm using his height jab and solid right hand, even wobbling Figueroa 19-19
The first became a war of attrition in the third with both fighters throwing punches with bad intentions. 29-28 Starks
The left hook and straight left from the southpaw Figueroa began to land at will against Starks.
Figueroa continued his aggressive onslaught seemingly taking over control of the fight. 48-47 Figueroa
Fatigue seems to be affecting both fighters as their output has dropped, close round but the edge goes to Figueroa
Starks at the beginning of the round was determined to take control of the center of the ring and use his range and boxing. Seems to be the fresher of the two fighters as well. 67-66 Figueroa
Fatigue is really affecting Figueroa and Starks is really putting it on. As the round closes Figueroa comes back with some power shots. Very good showing from these two undefeated fighters.
76-76. At ringside I have it a draw.
