Denis Shafikov (34-1, KO’s 19) also known as “Djingis Khan” is officially signed to fight on December 13, on the Timothy Bradley and Diego Chaves undercard. The name of his opponent is yet to be announced. The 29-year-old Russian fighter will be looking to showcase his talents on the HBO card, to prove he is a real contender in the lightweight division.
Shafikov coming off a TKO victory of Nugaev is aiming for big named opponents in the near future. According to Boxingscene.com, Nugaev has shown interest in fighting Mickey Bey in early 2015. Bey had recently become the IBF Lightweight Champion after defeating Miguel Vazquez by split decision in a very close fight. Shafikov who lost against Vazquez by UD, is aiming for another chance of entering the spotlight. First he has to add another win to his record in his upcoming bout in Las Vegas.
