On May 4, Wladimir Klitschko will look to maintain his status as Ruler of the Heavyweight division when he defends his unified heavyweight titles against unbeaten Francesco Pianeta in Mannheim, Germany.

Technically, this is an all German domestic match up that will generate huge interest locally. The Italian born Pianeta is a full-time German resident. However across the shores, there is likely to be great indifference in the fight, partly due to the high profile; Floyd Mayweather- Roberto Guerrero clash and mainly due to the continued indifference in the popularity of the Heavyweight Division.

Although undefeated Pianeta, is relatively untested. His toughest opponents to date would arguably be UD victories over aging heavyweight veterans, Oliver McCall and Francois Botha, both well past their primes.

Klitschko will go into the fight the overwhelming favorite to convincingly dispatch of Southpaw Pianeta, who to date he hasn’t shown a skill set capable of competing at the elite Heavyweight Level. However the confidence of an undefeated fighter can never be underestimated and combine this with Klitschko’s advancing age, an upset could brew if he doesn’t take the challenge of Pianeta seriously.

Prediction: Klitschko KO round 6
